We do not ordinarily write reviews, good or bad.  However, for Jose Gonzalez and JRMK Construction, we are making an exception because their work is so exceptional.  JRMK did a total kitchen makeover for us.  As our house was built in 1935, the kitchen needed to be totally re-wired and re-plumbed.  It was necessary to demolish the original kitchen down to the studs.

We had a cabinet maker and a stone fabricator with whom we wanted to work. Many contractors would not have been amenable to dealing with sub-contractors with whom they had not previously worked. Jose, however, was most agreeable to working with our selected subs. Everyone met in advance to discuss the scope of the project and worked beautifully together. Jose and the subs have stayed in touch and work together when schedules align.

• JRMK began our project on the exact date which we had scheduled months in advance.

• The entire JRMK team was polite, prompt, accommodating, and fastidious.

• Jose is an astute problem solver.

• Jose is detail oriented; his work is meticulous.

• Jose incorporated a few “special” touches for us which we had not envisioned on our own.

• ​JRMK’s work passed each inspection without any problems.

Of course, there were extra things we requested along the way. The scope of each addition was assessed, priced, and completed with enthusiasm.

Jose is a master tile setter.  We installed a black and white ceramic tile floor set on the diagonal.  Jose expertly prepped the floor and laid the tile with amazing precision.

Note that our appliances were installed by factory certified installers in order to preserve the warranties, and not by JRMK.

The entire project took 3 months; it was completed on schedule and on budget.

If there is any negative, it is that, Jose was sometimes slow to respond to general emails prior to the project getting underway.  As we had not worked with Jose prior to our kitchen project, this caused us some stress.  The stress was unwarranted.  Jose did everything exactly as we had agreed.  If a matter is urgent, rest assured, Jose will respond promptly.

Since finishing our kitchen, Jose has completed several other smaller projects for us, including the demolition of a wall and the installation of new copper piping, re-plumbing a bathroom by going behind the walls and saving the original tile, and prepping our fireplace hearth to be faced with marble.  We will never complete a construction project without Jose.

Jose Gonzalez is a master craftsman.  If he works for you, you will be quite lucky.
